More than 300 people are reported dead in the aftermath of a powerful earthquake off the coast of Indonesia. Thousands of residents in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and elsewhere evacuated from coastal areas after the quake hit the region around 11:10 a.m. (EST) and governments issued tsunami warnings. Now, however, the danger of a new tsunami appears to have passed.

It’s been a busy few weeks, but things are going pretty well. I’ve gotten several big projects at work largely off my plate, Melissa and I have done a lot of wedding planning, I got my tires replaced and parking brake tightened, and more!

Republicans Ignore Values to Save Dead Woman

This is why I have had such a hard time officially aligning myself with the Republican Party. They profess deeply held values, and then ignore them when it’s convenient (although the Democrats are guilty of this too; probably more so). Today, Republicans in Congress are attempting to interfere with an issue that is between Mr. Schiavo, Mrs. Schiavo’s doctors, and God . . . one which, furthermore, has already been settled by Florida’s courts! What happened to ‘sanctity of marriage’ and ‘state’s rights?’
