Historically, the campaigns to coerce obedience to new limitations on speech or taboos end in failure.
Most Americans don't like being told what they can and can't say. The word police may win battles, but they inevitably lose the war.
The way to win a culture war is to persuade the other side of the new taboo, not coerce the rest of us into obedience...through the courts, the state, or the threat of cancellation.
The word police may temporarily succeed, but more often than not, they trigger a backlash that opens the door to the very kind expression they sought to stifle.
