The 2005 State of the Union Address and Democratic Response

In the tradition I started with the 2004 presidential debates, I am going to tell you what I thought of the last night’s State of the Union address and the Democratic response. This is not a partisan piece to determine who was right (you all know my opinions), but rather a critique of the speeches and their effectiveness from the perspective of an apolitical observer. My intent is to determine quality of presentation and strength of argument.

Ricin Poison Discovered on Capitol Hill

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has confirmed that a white, powdery substance discovered yesterday in mail delivered to his office has tested positive for ricin poison. Three Senate office buildings have been closed as a result, although the Senate will still be in session today.

Well, my respect for my school just got bumped down another notch.

On Tuesday, I have lots of classes. I have Religion at 9:00, Intro Journalism at 10:30, Management of Information Systems at 1:30, Computers and Communication at 4:30, and Gov’t and Politics in the Middle East and North Africa at 7:20.

Rant Version VK 4.0 2004

Once upon a time, somebody came up with a system of versioning for software. The first public release of a program would be version 1.0. Minor revisions to that version would be 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. Major updates would cycle to the next number, like 2.0.
