Easter Egg: Website 20-21 (Les the Turtle)

With the launch of Website 22, I have retired the Easter Egg (hidden, secret joke page) that has served through Websites 20 and 21. This egg was a number of photos (and two videos) of ‘Les the Turtle,’ the U.S. Navy’s environmental program turtle. Yes, it’s as absurd as it sounds.

In a word, the true morality of Christianity is love. And love does admittedly run counter to self-seeking—it is an exodus out of oneself, and yet this is precisely the way in which man comes to himself.

Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature. And that is because, in the last analysis, we ourselves are part of nature and therefore part of the mystery that we are trying to solve.

We should recognize how in a culture where each person wants to be bearer of his or her own subjective truth, it becomes difficult for citizens to devise a common plan which transcends individual gain and personal ambitions.

There is no such thing as slow freedom. Freedom is like a birth. Till we are fully free we are slaves.

With us the governing class is always saying to itself, ‘What laws shall we make?’ In a purely democratic state it would be always saying, ‘What laws can we obey?’

Self-pity in its early stages is as snug as a feather mattress. Only when it hardens does it become uncomfortable.
